Terms of service
Last updated: August 9, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of The LifeBinder website and application at thelifebinder.app. By using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
The service
The LifeBinder provides tools to organize personal continuity information, export PDFs, optionally share view-only access with invitees, and optionally order a printed binder. Features may change as we improve the product.
Not legal or medical advice
The LifeBinder is an organizational tool only. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified lawyer, notary, physician, or other professional. You are solely responsible for decisions about estates, healthcare, finances, and legal documents.
Eligibility and accounts
You must be of legal age in your jurisdiction to create an account. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to your email and devices secure. Do not share sign-in links.
Your content
You retain rights to the information you enter. You grant us a limited license to host, process, encrypt/decrypt as designed, transmit, and display that content solely to operate the features you use (including sync, sharing, PDF export, and print fulfillment).
You represent that you have the right to enter the information you store and to invite recipients you share with.
Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the service: no unlawful content, no attempts to break encryption or access others’ binders without authorization, no abuse of email invites, no interference with infrastructure, and no automated scraping that harms the service.
Free and paid features
Anonymous and registered free features are provided as described in-product. Share and Hardcopy are paid one-time purchases (prices shown at checkout, typically in CAD) processed by Stripe. Taxes may apply.
Paid entitlements unlock the features described at purchase. Print fulfillment depends on our print partner and shipping carriers; delivery times vary. International shipping limitations or disclaimers shown at checkout apply.
Refunds
Digital Share entitlements are generally non-refundable once delivered, except where required by law. Hardcopy orders may be ineligible for refund after print production begins; contact us through the website for order issues and we will work with our processors where reasonable.
Availability and changes
We strive for reliable uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice when practicable. Local-first drafts remain your responsibility to export or back up.
Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND (B) CAD $50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your content, your invitees’ use, or your breach of these terms, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Alberta shall have exclusive jurisdiction, except where consumer protection laws give you mandatory rights to another forum.
Contact

Changes to terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use after the updated date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms, except where mandatory law requires a different process.
